Bruce Wynn has provided personal instructor services exclusively as part of the Tech Dive Academy Team ever since he arrived in Port Douglas in “semi-retirement mode”. He passionately shares the Tech Dive philosophy that safety and personal attention to the student come first. Bruce has been a Company Director since 2009, a steady hand to help guide Tech Dive Academy. He remains part of the team to this day.

- EFR Instructor and Tech Instructor
- Rebreather Instructor
- One of the three first formally qualified diving instructors in Western Australia – almost forty years ago.
- Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Meritorious Service Award recipient
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Medal recipient
Bruce’s diving experience extends over a period of more than forty years and began in Fremantle under the instruction of a retired Royal Australian Navy clearance diver. He won the right to represent the State in National Scuba Diving competitions when he was just seventeen years of age. Recreational diving, instruction and an interest in underwater photography have since taken him to many parts of Australia, the Pacific region, Indonesia, New Guinea, North America and the Philippines.
His ongoing involvement in the dive industry is driven by a pursuit to share the underwater world with others and the world wide network of friendships that this has provided.
He was instrumental in Tech Dive’s FREE Learn to Dive Training programme implemented for High School Students in the area.
In his “corporate life” prior to settling in Port Douglas, Bruce held various management roles in various parts of Australia; including CEO of the Australian Veterinary Association and the Royal Agricultural Society. He is a former Vice Commodore of the Port Douglas Yacht Club, maintains a keen interest in recreational boating, operates his own powerboat and has sailed competitively for thirty years.
