Best in class training has been at the core of Tech Dive Academy, since it was founded in 2003 by Mark, John, Targa and the rest of the team – creating divers for life was the key focus of the company, and remains so to this day.

The Key piece of equipment is a knowledgeable and sophisticated diver. To this end our courses are thorough, challenging and safely conducted. Our record speaks for itself.

2020 brought a series of challenges with the pandemic, and as we returned to a new normal in the second half of 2020 we faced;

  • A massive wave of demand from new and existing divers looking for training, including many returning to the sport for the first time in a long while.
  • New capacity constraints, operational bubbles, and travel limits.
  • Completing all the training that had been delayed in the first half of 2020, that you our customers and friends had chosen to delay rather than accept refunds.
  • Looming shortages and supply chain issues with key manufacturers.

We’d always booked out 2-3 months in advance, and longer around key dates (like Xmas/New Year), but now we were faced with the a full diary over 12 months ahead of time, in fact key dates are booked out in 2022 and 2023.

Each year, quite deliberately we engage with LESS THAN a 100 divers on their training journey (read more about that here), allowing the focus required to deliver a knowledgeable and sophisticated diver.

As we enter the last quarter of 2021, we’ve made further changes to Training – We are now prioritising our existing Customers and their new booking requests through until February 2023.

New training Customers will be required to complete a ‘Know your Client’ (KYC) application form before bookings will be considered for training during this time, and this will include a referral requirement from an existing training or expedition Customer – friends referring friends if you like.

We know this is a big change, but we want to ensure we continue to support our core Customers, for many of whom, training is designed around further Expedition Travel which is progressively returning in 2022. We have always said we are not for everybody and we remain committed to supporting YOU, and after much discussion internally, the need to once again narrow our focus away from the broader training public was apparent.

There are some great Trainers and Dive Schools out there, and we will happily be referring Divers to them. We remained committed to supporting the dive industry.
